It has been a while, though!gcmaybehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02073948672772179284noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5000630883536582433.post-69484541264691051252017-08-04T18:02:03.263-05:002017-08-04T18:02:03.263-05:00OK, second time- I think I should have logged in t...OK, second time- I think I should have logged in to my account before typing all that.

This is really interesting to me, as I like to do Martial Arts forms to music- usually rock/pop songs. You can see some examples of this on my YouTube channel. I haven't done the kind of research into it the way you have, I mostly was just thinking it was great to do forms to music. I find that while the beat or the length of the song does play a part, it isn't everything when it comes to which is the right song for the form- and really, it does have to be the right song, it doesn't work if it isn't. You can see on my Eight Direction Yang Style Fan form the song I use is exactly the right length and the beat is right too, as well as being the right one to perform to. I once performed the Fan From to Eric Satie's Gnossienne in public, but while it is just the right length and beat, it doesn't work as well as the song I use in the video. The performance is different. If you look at other videos- Eight Direction Butterfly Knives which I recorded the same day is a good example- the form doesn't necessarily go exactly with the beat, and isn't exactly the right length, but it is still the song which works best. I do find that it lends a different quality to the performance, and while I mostly practice forms without music, I definitely like to practice with as well, and the music has to match the form. Anyway, I will try the practice with drum beats, I'm sure it will add a new dimension to what I do.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09405377309043216607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5000630883536582433.post-321333152084582562017-08-04T17:48:39.951-05:002017-08-04T17:48:39.951-05:00Well I hope this works.
